MAINTAINING THE CHANGE
Once the Ten Sessions are complete, How will YOU maintain the Change? Will you be open to the "Newness" of your Self? or will previous habits and conditions take you right back into your old patterns? Here are some simple, practical ways for assisting in maintaining this change process. Also, I have found working with Samuel Avital through Private Consultations, and BodySpeak Workshops have enhanced the Rolfing experience.
1. AWARENESS - are you aware of every movement, every thought, every action that you do? Your right! There are not many people in this world who are able to be 100% present in ALL thoughts, ALL actions, and in ALL ways of being. During the ten sessions, one learns to breathe throughout the whole body, SLOWLY, becoming aware of every moving fiber and part; and how, they are connected together. With this new consciousness, the challenge is to carry this new sense of awareness and presence with you into every thing you do in life. Learn to navigate every day with conscious choices, conscious effort, and conscious movement.
2. ATTITUDE - The way we think is so important. Our thoughts and attitude have a major effect upon the physical body. If you have a closed mind, nothing will ever change, If you are open to the infinite possibilities, then, anything is possible. A positive attitude can bring more openness, new directions, expansion in doing good for your self and for others. A negative attitude shuts down, closes the doors, thrives on laziness. One does nothing, and thinks, what's the use? So, the choice is yours - The positive and beneficial, or the negative and detrimental.
3. BREATHING AND POSTURE - The "Breath," remember, is the Source of ALL Life. Are you aware of when you are breathing and when you are not breathing? Are you aware of relaxation during breathing and tension and constriction when you are not? Because the Breath is an INVOLUNTARY action, we can be unaware of how our posture, the amount of tension or stress we are carrying in the body can "shut off" the circulation of this precious commodity. The breath (MOVEMENT of Air), should be circulating throughout all our cells in the body, all the time. So, if we consciously remember to be aware of when areas need release from tension, and maintain good posture while walking, sitting, or standing, we will maintain all the vital systems in a unique dynamic flow of breath and energy.
4. FOCUS - In this overstimulated, "extreme" Society which bombards us daily with excess stimuli, it sometimes is difficult to focus on the tasks at hand. "Une chose a la fois" - Focus on one thing at a time. One direction, one path, one stream can lead you to the ocean. While following the "one stream," there may be diversions and distractions which try to keep you from your path. If one gives in to the diversions and distractions, it will take 5,000 years to reach the ocean. But, then, when you do get to the ocean, the real work is just beginning. You will need another 5,000 years to explore and discover the lengths and depths of the Great Ocean - Your Self.........And, if you succeed at maintaining this way of focus, everything will begin to change. Your attitude, awareness, the way you treat your self and others.......Life will seem alot more enjoyable!
